This essay aims to analyse the theme of wayfaring, its symbolic and cultural values, and literary expressions it entails. Specifically, we intend to investigate how wanderings of steps and thoughts are depicted in the works of two poets and travellers, Robert Louis Stevenson and Hermann Hesse: restless souls committed to a never-ending existential research and its translation into literature.
