Poverty, economic hardship, gender inequality, traditional practices and beliefs, lies of a better future, and restrictive European migration policies are generally identified as among the main causes of human trafficking from Nigeria to Italy. In this thesis I will focus in the first part on the European and Italian international regulations regarding sex trafficking. In a second part I will illustrate the Nigerian cultural situation by talking about the system and environment so as to understand the causes and consequences behind this phenomenon, and then conclude in the third part with the mode of repatriation and some testimonies. QUESTION: WHAT ARE THE REASONS WHY NIGERIAN GIRLS leave their country.
