Thesis suitable for better understanding the Brazilian political situation and party ideologies within it. Starting from a historical basis and presenting the various current parties and their ideologies specifically, the Bolsonaro government is then analyzed; the thesis evaluates the ideology of his party and his electorate generally populist and Christian evangelical and Catholic. The importance of the evangelical electorate is fundamental, which brings Bolsonaro's liberal party very close to Trump's republicans. However, its electorate, excluding small extremist fringes, does not present a threat to democracy which, if it is fragile, is due to Brazil's state of emerging country, and its internal division. A part of the population is still tied to the Protestant Christian traditions and to a moralistic ideology; and the other party is more progressive and liberal. An artificial division, therefore without real correspondences in reality, demonizes the enemy and sees the right-wing, moralistic and Christian electorate as neofascist and ignorant. The ideological war currently taking place in the country causes a huge amount of fake news aimed at discrediting the political opponent, these news often crossing national borders and giving a distorted idea of the political situation in the South American country. The risks for democracy are party corruption and the threat of military interference in elections, a constant in Brazilian history but also in South America. The need for these countries to solidify their democracy over time and the passing of generations is often misunderstood by Western observers who would like rapid and sustainable development.

Abstract
The need for these countries to solidify their democracy over time and the passing of generations is often misunderstood by Western observers who would like rapid and sustainable development.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
