Stress della dieta e trade-offs tra caratteri pre e post accoppiamento nel pesce milione, Poecilia reticulata

This thesis consists of an experimental part in which pre-mating (size, colorations, gonopodium) and post-mating characters (sperm number) were measured in two groups of fish belonging to the Poecilia reticulata species. What differentiates the two groups is the type of diet they were subjected to: one with a restrictive diet to recreate a situation of environmental stress, while the other with a regular diet. Subsequently, the data collected were analyzed in order to identify the various trade-offs to which individuals subjected to stress resorted. Which were for example: between growth and sperm number, between the immune system and growth, between the immune system and reproduction.

Questa tesi si compone di una parte sperimentale nella quale si sono misurati caratteri pre (dimensioni, colorazioni, gonopodio) e post accoppiamento (numero di spermi prodotti) in due gruppi di pesci appartenenti alla specie Poecilia reticulata. Ciò che differenzia i due gruppi è il tipo di dieta a cui sono stati sottoposti: uno con dieta restrittiva per ricreare una situazione di stress ambientale, mentre l'altro con dieta regolare. Successivamente sono stati analizzati i dati raccolti per poter identificare i vari trade-offs a cui sono ricorsi gli individui sottoposti a stress. Che sono stati per esempio: tra accrescimento e numero di spermi prodotti, tra sistema immunitario ed accrescimento, tra sistema immunitario e riproduzione.
