Nowadays, family structures are more and more diversified, and of all the different models, the most debated by the public is the one featuring same-sex parents. The concept of family is intimate and personal, and therefore controversial; on this particular topic, the two main points of view are extremely conflicting: one demands rights and acceptance for this family model, while the other accuses it of not being natural and of causing harm to the development of the children. With the intention of creating a more intercultural and welcoming school (and therefore world) – where there is no place for prejudices and stereotypes – we conducted a systematic review, trying to make it as unbiased as possible, in order to help us understand which of the two positions is supported by scientific literature. The chosen method was scoping review, and we considered research from the last 10 years. The results show that there is no actual correlation between parental sexual orientation and negative outcomes of the offspring, while also pointing out that sometimes children with same-sex parents show less psychological and emotional problems than the ones of heterosexual couples. What could instead correlate with greater difficulties for parents and children both, is the damage caused by the prejudices, discrimination and stigma that persist towards these families.

Abstract
What could instead correlate with greater difficulties for parents and children both, is the damage caused by the prejudices, discrimination and stigma that persist towards these families.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
