In recent decades the international community has begun to become increasingly aware of the phenomenon of climate change. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze how Africa, one of the continents most vulnerable to the effects of climate change, is taken into account in major international forums related to climate, in particular at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and how the states of this continent become actors in such scenarios, analyzing two of the most important agreements on climate change, Kyoto and Paris. The analysis studies in detail the situation of Nigeria, one of the most important African states on the economic and demographic level. The analysis examines not only how climate change affects the state and what consequences it creates, especially in regions already plagued by conflict, such as the north-east of the country or the Niger Delta area, but also it analyses the policies adopted by the Nigerian government to tackle climate change and adapt the country to the new conditions, and the contribution made by Nigeria to international negotiations and initiatives on environmental issues.

Abstract
In recent decades the international community has begun to become increasingly aware of the phenomenon of climate change. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze how Africa, one of the continents most vulnerable to the effects of climate change, is taken into account in major international forums related to climate, in particular at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and how the states of this continent become actors in such scenarios, analyzing two of the most important agreements on climate change, Kyoto and Paris. The analysis studies in detail the situation of Nigeria, one of the most important African states on the economic and demographic level. The analysis examines not only how climate change affects the state and what consequences it creates, especially in regions already plagued by conflict, such as the north-east of the country or the Niger Delta area, but also it analyses the policies adopted by the Nigerian government to tackle climate change and adapt the country to the new conditions, and the contribution made by Nigeria to international negotiations and initiatives on environmental issues.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
