Utilizzo della whole body low dose CT nello studio del mieloma multiplo: implementazione del protocollo diagnostico.

In this paper, it is presented the diagnostic protocol "whole body low dose CT", for patients with multiple myeloma, which has been implemented in the hospital ULSS5 Polesana, describing the scanner that has been used (Somatom Definition Edge) and paying special attention to the strategies used in order to reduce the radiation dose delivered to the patient, which is a fundamental requirement since it is a low dose protocol. Firstly, an overview of the disease in question is provided, next there is information about the literature and the history of that protocol, and then the focus on what has been done in the hospital ULSS5 Polesana.

In questo elaborato viene presentato il protocollo diagnostico "whole body low dose CT", per i pazienti affetti da mieloma multiplo, implementato nell'azienda ULSS5 Polesana, con riferimento all'apparecchiatura utilizzata (tomografo Somatom Definition Edge) e prestando particolare attenzione alle strategie utilizzate per ridurre le dose di radiazione erogata al paziente, requisito fondamentale trattandosi di un protocollo a bassa dose. Viene dapprima fornita una panoramica sulla patologia in questione, successivamente sono presenti informazioni riguardanti la letteratura e la storia di tale protocollo, per poi concentrarsi su quanto messo in atto dall'azienda ULSS5 Polesana.
