Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography: aspetti tecnico acquisitivi e prospettive future dell’imaging senologico

In this paper, after a brief overview of the epidemiology and characteristics of breast cancer, the standard acquisition of breast imaging is considered, highlighting the limitations related to some of the acquired modalities used. These limitations are overcome by the CESM technique, which will be dealt with: the technical specification acquisition modalities, the clinical applications and the advantages related to it. Finally, possible future technical developments will be considered.

In questo elaborato, dopo un breve excursus sull’epidemiologia e sulle caratteristiche del tumore al seno, viene preso in considerazione l’iter acquisitivo standard dell’imaging senologico evidenziando le limitazioni legate ad alcune delle modalità acquisitive utilizzate. Queste limitazioni vengono sopperite dalla tecnica CESM della quale si tratteranno: la specifica tecnica acquisitiva, le applicazioni cliniche ed i vantaggi ad essa legati. Infine, verranno presi in considerazione i possibili sviluppi futuri relativi alla tecnica.
