ABSTRACT INTRODUCTION: The nurse plays a decisive role in the healing and pain management process in the acute phase of the burn patient, they are particularly exposed to the risk of developing complications that can compromise the healing process. Nursing care includes various phases: pre-hospital and first aid, the acute phase and finally the rehabilitation phase; each of them presents critical issues that must be taken into consideration and addressed in different ways depending on the case. OBJECTIVE: the objective of this analysis is to carry out a review of the literature regarding pain management in the burn patient in the acute phase in all its complexity. MATERIALS AND METHODS: a review of the literature was carried out using the following keywords: burned patient, therapeutic approaches of pain, management of pain and complications in the acute phase - management of pain and complications in the acute phase. Relevant articles were included from the year 2015 to 2022. The following were used as databases: Pubmed and Google Scholar. RESULTS: the results of the review highlight how in addition to pharmacological treatments to relieve pain in the acute phase, other therapeutic strategies based on hypnosis, virtual reality and psychoanalysis sessions can also be implemented. It is always necessary to consider that each person is different, for this reason it is increasingly important to mediate through a holistic approach while recognizing the importance of formulating well-defined and universally shared guidelines that explain in a clear and exhaustive way what are the interventions to be implemented in case of burns in both adults and children.
Sono state usate come banche dati: Pubmed e Google Scholar .
