Abstract
Communication is considered a fundamental issue in nursing, as it allows establishing and maintaining contact with other people. In fact, in nursing, it is necessary to deepen the latter, in order not to be limited to the physio-pathological aspect of the disease. The use of additional methods, makes it possible to investigate the experience of the disease, and provide more specific care to the patient. The concept of health, defined as complete physical, psychological and social well-being, is recognized as a central theme, as a priority for care purposes. The coexistence of humanistic aspects and technicality, aims at the holistic relationship: it is this, in fact, that allows the professional to establish a relationship of trust with the patient, so as to understand his or her experience of illness. Moreover, communication and the helping relationship are also key aspects in promoting adherence to care, caregiver education, and a collaborative climate with the caregiver.
