After a general introduction on the organization and sharing of health data through an electronic health record, an in-depth analysis is made on medical images and techniques that can ensure their integrity and ownership during storage or transmission. For this purpose, the digital signature technique is analyzed, the advantages and disadvantages of which are emphasized. The concept of Digital Watermarking applied to images as an alternative method to digital signature to ensure the integrity and ownership of multimedia files is therefore introduced. After a brief historical introduction, the requirements for the implementation of a digital watermark are deepened. Next, the process of applying and extracting the watermark in its spatial, frequency or hybrid variants is explained. A detailed analysis of possible attacks that can compromise the watermark and an evaluation of the performance of application techniques is also carried out. Finally, after an in-depth study on the applications of digital watermarking of images in healthcare, the process of inserting and extracting a watermark for medical images based on the DFT transform is analyzed in detail.
Dopo un’introduzione generale sull’organizzazione e sulla condivisione di dati sanitari tramite una cartella sanitaria elettronica, viene fatta una analisi approfondita sulle immagini mediche e sulle tecniche che possono assicurarne l’integrità e la paternità durante l’archiviazione o trasmissione. A questo scopo viene analizzata la tecnica della firma digitale di cui si sottolineano i vantaggi e gli svantaggi. Viene dunque introdotto il concetto di Watermarking Digitale applicato alle immagini come metodo alternativo alla firma digitale per assicurare l’integrità e la paternità dei file multimediali. In particolare, dopo una breve introduzione storica vengono approfonditi i requisiti per l’implementazione di un watermark digitale. Successivamente, viene spiegato il processo di applicazione ed estrazione del watermark nelle sue varianti spaziali, in frequenza o ibride. Viene inoltre effettuata un’analisi dettagliata dei possibili attacchi che possono compromettere il watermark e una valutazione delle performance delle tecniche di applicazione. Infine, dopo un approfondimento sulle applicazioni del watermarking digitale di immagini in sanità, viene analizzato nel dettaglio il processo di inserimento ed estrazione di un watermark per immagini mediche basato sulla trasformata DFT.
