In the final elaboration there will be a discussion of the steel industry, its development in terms of production, and the resulting CO2 emissions, and possible solutions to reduce what is its environmental impact, from the most immediate and economic to the most drastic through the direct reduction of iron with hydrogen. The discussion will focus particularly on H-DR plants reporting the example of the Hybrit project in northern Europe (Sweden and Finland) with its pros and cons that will consider the economy of hydrogen, the development of the necessary technologies, the impact to the electrical system, and the cost of production.
Nell’approfondimento finale si discuterà dell’industria siderurgica, del suo sviluppo in termini di produzione, e delle conseguenti emissioni di CO2, e delle possibili soluzioni per ridurre quello che è il suo impatto ambientale, dal più immediato ed economico a quello più drastico mediante la riduzione diretta del ferro con l’idrogeno. La discussione si soffermerà in particolar modo sugli impianti H-DR riportando l’esempio del progetto Hybrit nel nord-Europa (Svezia e Finlandia) con i relativi pro e contro che verteranno sull’economia dell’idrogeno, sullo sviluppo delle tecnologie necessarie, sull’impatto al sistema elettrico e sui costi di produzione.
