Migration is an historical phenomenon in continue growth: every day immense flows of people are forced to leave their countries in order to seek for a safer place to live. Refugees during their journey face an enormous range of risks. However, it has been widely demonstrated that refugee women during their migration routes experience severe risks such as sexual and gender based violence, discrimination, human trafficking, mainly due to their bodies. Considering the growing importance of mass media in our world and their crucial role in shaping public opinion, this thesis will analyze how mass media describe refugee women in their newspaper articles, which is also the research question. Afterwards, in order to demonstrate the validity of the research question answer, the case study on the recent exploded war in Ukraine will be analyzed. As a matter of fact, since the beginning of the war more that 9.1 millions people escaped Ukraine, in majority women and children.
