Working hypothesis. Communities of Practice (CoPs) can improve healthcare performance. This study puts forward a project on “Field Training – Improvement groups” based on the “Community of learning or practice” model. The project involves both Physiotherapists employed by the Healthcare Local Agency Ulss, which is the provider of the ECM event, and Physiotherapists employed by affiliated companies in the same territory. Materials and methods. Physiotherapists of affiliated companies will be asked to join, on a volunteer basis, a CoP with Physiotherapists employed in Ulss. A seminar will be organized to introduce the concepts of CoP and situated-learning and to clarify doubts. Activities will be carried out autonomously, workshops will be promoted for sharing professional experiences (shared repertoire). Activities will also include a “process of negotiation” in order to acquire a collective competence (joint enterprise) and a declaration of commitment to the project (mutual engagement) by the co-participants. Participants will then produce a final report and organise an event to present the goals achieved. The aim of the study is “to improve the engagement of physiotherapists by 30%, based on the index measured through satisfaction and engagement surveys, at the start of the project, after 6 months and within 12 months”. Results. The expected result of the project is an improvement in the employees’ engagement with their work. Ten themes related to the potential success of the project were identified. These included: self-efficacy perception, motivation, enhancement of social-relational and working dimensions, perceived well-being, work-life balance, communication, leadership, environment, learning needs, feedback. Both hospital and affiliated companies’ employees will take part into anonymous surveys such as Job Satisfaction Scale (JSS) and Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-9). Conclusions. The research in CoP is relatively new and limited in healthcare. The strength of the project is the possibility for the Region to oversee the health needs of the citizen, through the pursuit of uniformity, continuity of care and quality of the service provided, to be achieved through the creation of a network between the Physiotherapists who work in the area allocated to them. Conclusioni.
