The present research aims to investigate some of the effects of the adaptation to the Italian school context of the Identity Project, a school and evidence-based intervention whose main objective is to foster processes of cultural identity exploration and resolution in adolescence. The thesis consists of six chapters. The first illustrates the specifics of Italy's multicultural school context, tracing the country's immigration history and reflecting on its implications within the school environment, taking care to highlight its challenges and potential. The second chapter offers a review of the constructs considered in the research as relevant to the promotion of cultural adaptation in adolescence: cultural identity, family ethnic socialization and classroom cultural diversity climate. The third chapter is devoted to a description of the Identity Project, the theoretical framework within which it is developed, and the characteristics and results of its implementation in the U.S., German and Italian contexts. The fourth chapter focuses on the methodological and research aspects of the present study. The fifth, on the other hand, reports the results that emerged from the data analysis, the interpretation of which is proposed in the sixth chapter. The latter also reflects with respect to the limitations and future implications of the present research.
La presente ricerca è volta ad indagare alcuni degli effetti dell’adattamento al contesto scolastico italiano dell’Identity Project, intervento school ed evidence based il cui obiettivo principale è favorire i processi di esplorazione e risoluzione dell’identità culturale in adolescenza. La tesi si compone di sei capitoli. Il primo illustra le specificità del contesto scolastico multiculturale italiano, ripercorrendo la storia dell’immigrazione del Paese e riflettendo sulle sue implicazioni all’interno dell’ambiente scolastico, avendo cura di sottolinearne sfide e potenzialità. Il secondo capitolo propone una rassegna dei costrutti considerati nella ricerca in quanto rilevanti per la promozione dell’adattamento culturale in adolescenza: identità culturale, socializzazione etnica familiare e clima di diversità culturale in classe. Il terzo capitolo è dedicato alla descrizione dell’Identity Project, la cornice teorica all’interno del quale si sviluppa, le caratteristiche e risultati della sua implementazione nel contesto statunitense, tedesco ed italiano. Il quarto capitolo si concentra sugli aspetti metodologici e di ricerca del presente studio. Nel quinto vengono invece riportati i risultati emersi dall’analisi dei dati, la cui interpretazione è proposta nel sesto capitolo. In quest’ultimo si riflette anche rispetto ai limiti e alle future implicazioni della presente ricerca.
