In my dissertation ''Bilingualism in childhood: studies, policies and proposals'' I intend to focus on the vision of childhood bilingualism and how it has been transformed over the years, starting from a conception that saw this phenomenon as deleterious and arriving at a radical change, to the point of promoting such education within schools. Through studies, articles, and official documents, I will focus on the new vision of bilingualism and the new approach that institutions are having with this phenomenon, with a particular focus on the role of school teaching in schools with a high percentage of bilingual children and on schools that want to create bilingual education instead, given the advantages that have emerged from recent studies. The main comparison will be on the approach that France and Italy have towards bilingualism with examples of glottodidactics. I will conclude my thesis by analysing the various stages that have led the whole of Europe to reclassify and re-evaluate the widespread and sometimes underestimated phenomenon that is childhood bilingualism.

Abstract
In my dissertation ''Bilingualism in childhood: studies, policies and proposals'' I intend to focus on the vision of childhood bilingualism and how it has been transformed over the years, starting from a conception that saw this phenomenon as deleterious and arriving at a radical change, to the point of promoting such education within schools. The main comparison will be on the approach that France and Italy have towards bilingualism with examples of glottodidactics. I will conclude my thesis by analysing the various stages that have led the whole of Europe to reclassify and re-evaluate the widespread and sometimes underestimated phenomenon that is childhood bilingualism.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
