The present paper aims to show the potential of video games in the field of cultural heritage enhancement and alternative education, taking into consideration pedagogical theories such as John Dewey's "learning by doing" and those of Johan Huizinga, in the field of the philosophy of play. Special attention is also paid, then, to the potential of new hardware and software in virtual visualization and three-dimensional modeling of cultural heritage and elements of the past for the purpose of archaeological study, analysis and research. Many words are spent, finally, on the concept of virtual landscape, used for the analysis of real landscapes, specifically analyzing the city of Athens and Rome, reproduced in some titles of the famous video game saga "Assassin's Creed."

Abstract
The present paper aims to show the potential of video games in the field of cultural heritage enhancement and alternative education, taking into consideration pedagogical theories such as John Dewey's "learning by doing" and those of Johan Huizinga, in the field of the philosophy of play. Special attention is also paid, then, to the potential of new hardware and software in virtual visualization and three-dimensional modeling of cultural heritage and elements of the past for the purpose of archaeological study, analysis and research. Many words are spent, finally, on the concept of virtual landscape, used for the analysis of real landscapes, specifically analyzing the city of Athens and Rome, reproduced in some titles of the famous video game saga "Assassin's Creed."File | Dimensione | Formato | |
