To ask what it means to know, from a sociological point of view, is to ask how we understand theory, epistemology and the relationship individual, society, world. It is to ask what we take for granted in the relationship between words and reality. To ask what it means to know is to ask through what means we know. The question involves the ritualised and institutionalised aspects of contexts and our actions as much as individual experience. This brief research attempts to discover something about it through participant observation in some university courses in Sociological Sciences at the University of Padua.
Chiedersi cosa significhi conoscere, dal punto di vista sociologico, è chiedersi come intendiamo la teoria, l'epistemologia e il rapporto individuo, società, mondo. È domandarsi cosa diamo per scontato nel rapporto tra le parole e la realtà. Chiedersi cosa significhi conoscere è chiedersi attraverso quali mezzi si conosce. La questione coinvolge gli aspetti rituali e istituzionalizzati dei contesti e del nostro agire quanto l'esperienza individuale. Questa breve ricerca prova a scoprire qualcosa a riguardo tramite l'osservazione partecipante in alcuni corsi universitari di Scienze Sociologiche dell'ateneo di Padova.
