This paper first presents a literature review of the state of the art on methodology, observational campaigns and results related to the neutral hydrogen (HI) content in galaxies at z<0.1 and the scaling relationships linking it to other fundamental properties of galaxies. Next, spectral stacking is presented and applied as a statistical technique to measure the average mass of HI in galaxies at z>0.1 and investigate its role in galaxy evolution, using data acquired by the MIGHTEE survey with the MeerKAT radio telescope.

Abstract
This paper first presents a literature review of the state of the art on methodology, observational campaigns and results related to the neutral hydrogen (HI) content in galaxies at z<0.1 and the scaling relationships linking it to other fundamental properties of galaxies. Next, spectral stacking is presented and applied as a statistical technique to measure the average mass of HI in galaxies at z>0.1 and investigate its role in galaxy evolution, using data acquired by the MIGHTEE survey with the MeerKAT radio telescope.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
