The aim of this paper is to illustrate the benefits of epigenetics’ methodologies in the field of ecology. The study of epigenetics mutations, mediators of the enviroment’s effects on the phenotype, thanks to the exponential progress of the molecular technologies, becomes increasingly advanced and can represent an important tool for the ecological analysis. Therefore, the paper presents a short dissertation on the most common epigenetics methodologies, concentrating particularly on DNA methylation and on some recent studies regarding Gasterosteus aculeatus (a marine species). In conclusion a possibile research on the study of the antropic impact on three-spined stickleback’s epigenome (using molecular techniques) is proposed, afterwards the paper will focus on the issue of the challenges and the future perspectives of molecular ecology.

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to illustrate the benefits of epigenetics’ methodologies in the field of ecology. The study of epigenetics mutations, mediators of the enviroment’s effects on the phenotype, thanks to the exponential progress of the molecular technologies, becomes increasingly advanced and can represent an important tool for the ecological analysis. Therefore, the paper presents a short dissertation on the most common epigenetics methodologies, concentrating particularly on DNA methylation and on some recent studies regarding Gasterosteus aculeatus (a marine species). In conclusion a possibile research on the study of the antropic impact on three-spined stickleback’s epigenome (using molecular techniques) is proposed, afterwards the paper will focus on the issue of the challenges and the future perspectives of molecular ecology.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
