Conflitto e cooperazione tra Unione Europea e Turchia per la gestione delle migrazioni: quali consequenze sui diritti dei migranti?

The thesis will attempt to expose the points of conflict and cooperation in the relation between the European Union and Turkey for the management of migration flows. Given the geographical proximity between the two actors, climate change, and proximity to what is often referred to as the "Middle Eastern powder keg", European and Turkish officials will reasonably be obliged to cooperate on migration management in the future as well. However, the mutual crisis of mistrust and growing divergence make cooperation more difficult. The effectiveness or failure of the implemented strategies will have an impact on the security and human rights of migrant people. After having exposed the main points of the path that led to the current situation, the thesis will focus on this fundamental issue.

La tesi corrente tenterà di esporre i punti di conflitto e di cooperazione nella relazione tra l’Unione Europea e la Turchia per la gestione dei flussi migratori. Data la prossimità geografica tra i due attori, i cambiamenti climatici e la vicinanza a quella che spesso viene definita la “polveriera medio-orientale”, i funzionari europei e turchi saranno ragionevolmente obbligati a cooperare per la gestione delle migrazioni anche in futuro. Tuttavia, la reciproca crisi di sfiducia e la crescente divergenza rende più difficoltosa la cooperazione. L’ efficacia o il fallimento delle strategie implementate avrà un impatto sulla sicurezza e sui diritti umani delle persone migranti. Dopo aver esposto i punti principali del percorso che ha portato alla situazione attuale, la tesi si concentrerà su questo tema fondamentale.
