This thesis proposes a partial perspective between Locke's political thought and the nudge theory presented by Thaler and Sunstein. In detail, the discourse develops the analysis of the relationship between rationality and freedom and paternal and autonomous government. The core of the discussion is the common definition of a rational anthropological standard to guide individual decisions, behaviour and conduct benevolently. Indeed, despite the temporal distance, several elements allow for a comparison between Lockian and economic subjectivity. Thus, deepening the rationalist assumptions of paternal power over children in Locke will lead to the discovery of those of libertarian paternalist government over citizens.

Abstract
This thesis proposes a partial perspective between Locke's political thought and the nudge theory presented by Thaler and Sunstein. In detail, the discourse develops the analysis of the relationship between rationality and freedom and paternal and autonomous government. The core of the discussion is the common definition of a rational anthropological standard to guide individual decisions, behaviour and conduct benevolently. Indeed, despite the temporal distance, several elements allow for a comparison between Lockian and economic subjectivity. Thus, deepening the rationalist assumptions of paternal power over children in Locke will lead to the discovery of those of libertarian paternalist government over citizens.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
