Vivere un tempo sovrapposto: esperienze di studenti universitari assunti in qualità di docenti nelle scuole pubbliche

The aim of this thesis is to analyze through a qualitative method developed by means of semi-structured interviews the experiences of university students-workers hired as teachers in Italian public schools. The research will focus at first on the description of the working conditions of the students and on the contractual arrangements with which the schools hire teachers and especially temporary supply teachers. Subsequently, we will try to highlight how the just-in-time mechanism has not only spread within large industries and the logistics sector but is often also used in the recruitment of teachers. This study will then deepen the relational sphere experienced by students in the workplace and understand whether the knowledge held by students who have not yet graduated is sufficient to carry out the work in question. The goals of the research will also be to highlight the motivations that led university students to choose this type of work and to understand the balance that the young workers have managed to maintain between time spent studying and time devoted to work.

La tesi intende analizzare attraverso un metodo qualitativo sviluppato per mezzo di interviste semi-strutturate le esperienze di studenti e studentesse universitari/e assunti in qualità di docenti all’interno di Istituti scolastici pubblici. La ricerca si concentrerà in primo luogo sulla descrizione delle condizioni lavorative degli studenti e sulle modalità contrattuali con le quali le scuole assumono i docenti e in particolar modo i supplenti temporanei. Successivamente si cercherà di evidenziare come il meccanismo del just-in-time non si sia diffuso solamente all’interno delle grandi industrie e nel settore logistico, ma sia spesso utilizzato anche nelle modalità di assunzione degli insegnanti. Verrà poi approfondita la sfera relazionale vissuta dagli studenti nel contesto lavorativo e si analizzerà se le conoscenze possedute dagli studenti non ancora laureati siano sufficienti a svolgere il lavoro in questione. Gli obiettivi della ricerca saranno inoltre quelli di mettere in luce le motivazioni che hanno portato gli universitari a scegliere questo tipo di lavoro e comprendere l’equilibrio che i giovani lavoratori sono riusciti a mantenere tra tempo dedicato allo studio e tempo dedicato al lavoro.
