This thesis is based on the works of Arthur Sherman and Gerda De Vries. Their simplified model for pancreatic beta cells was used under various circumstances. The primary objective of the thesis is to investigate, comprehend and explain the dynamics of the model under various circumstances. The analysis will go from the simplest case with two identical cells with the same initial conditions to the heterologous cells with diverse initial states. The secondary objective is to provide a geometrical perspective to the analysis, to help a better understanding of the system’s dynamics.

Abstract
This thesis is based on the works of Arthur Sherman and Gerda De Vries. Their simplified model for pancreatic beta cells was used under various circumstances. The primary objective of the thesis is to investigate, comprehend and explain the dynamics of the model under various circumstances. The analysis will go from the simplest case with two identical cells with the same initial conditions to the heterologous cells with diverse initial states. The secondary objective is to provide a geometrical perspective to the analysis, to help a better understanding of the system’s dynamics.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
