During this thesis activity, thermodynamic lumped-parameter tyre models available in the literature were studied. The focus was then shifted on the experimental measurement of the contact patch area between the tyre and asphalt/roller as a function of inflation pressure and radial load. Subsequently, tests were performed by heating and cooling the tire subjected to pure rolling through a roller bench. Lastly, by using an iterative procedure implemented in MATLAB, the parameters for the thermodynamic model were identified in order to minimize the error between the temperatures measured experimentally and the analytically calculated ones.
Nell’ambito dell’attività di tesi si sono studiati modelli termodinamici di pneumatici a parametri concentrati presenti in letteratura. Ci si è quindi concentrati sulla misura sperimentale dell’area di contatto tra pneumatico e asfalto/rullo, in funzione di pressione di gonfiaggio e carico radiale. In seguito, sono state eseguite prove di riscaldamento e raffreddamento dello pneumatico in puro rotolamento, tramite un banco a rullo. Infine, attraverso una procedura iterativa implementata in ambiente MATLAB, sono stati identificati i parametri del modello termodinamico che permettono di minimizzare gli scarti tra le temperature misurate sperimentalmente e quelle calcolate analiticamente.
