Translation Proposal and analysis of Yertle the turtle by Dr. Seuss

The purpose of this study is to present a proposal for the translation of the first story included in the children's book "Yeartle the Turtle" by Dr Seuss, published in 1952 and never translated into Italian. To better understand the proposed text into context, the study will retrace the salient points in the history of children's literature and provide an outline of Dr Seuss's biography and works. It will then move on to an analysis of the source text in the light of its linguistic and extra-linguistic structure, focusing on the problems that translating children's literature poses on both a cultural and pedagogical level, with particular attention to the role of rhyming production.
