This thesis will present the various uses of the camera obscura and camera obscura in the 17th century. Starting from the historian Kircher up to talking about painting with Caravaggio passing through the studies carried out by David Hockney, with the theses that will go against him, to Vermeer; in particular speaking of Tim Jenison, a Texan inventor who demonstrated precisely how this painter also made extensive use of optical instruments. There will also be a section dedicated to commenting on images of these devices.
L'elaborato presenterà i diversi impieghi della camera oscura e camera ottica nel XVII secolo. Partendo dallo storico Kircher fino ad arrivare a parlare di pittura con Caravaggio passando attraverso gli studi compiuti da David Hockney, con le tesi che gli andranno contro, a Vermeer; in particolare parlando di Tim Jenison, inventore texano il quale dimostrò appunto come anche questo pittore utilizzò largamente gli strumenti ottici. Vi sarà inoltre una parte dedicata al commento di immagini di questi dispositivi.
