This thesis will delve into the biblical rational and philosophical arguments present in Pelagius' and Saint Augustine of Hippo's historical debate on free will. The limits of free will, the biblical and philosophical underpinnings of both authors will be analysed in order to reveal the current theological importance of this debate. How both theologians reached their respective and distinct theological conclusions will be examined, through a strict logical lens.
