Over the recent years, the study of eliciting emotions through movies has become very important due to the continuous growth of the film industry. Scenography and composition play vital roles in film production by connecting with the audiences on an emotional level and create memorable cinematic experiences. A well-executed scenography can transport the viewer to a different time or place, while the composition guides the eye and creates a narrative structure. How do these elements influence the audience's emotional response and what is the purpose of each technique? This research aims to review the existing literature surrounding the topic and identify the correlation between scenography, composition, and their impact on the viewer's emotions. In particular, it will focus on exploring how negative emotions, such as fear and suspense, are stimulated through film.
