Isotretinoin (13-cis retinoic acid), first approved by the US Food and Drug Administration in 1982, is a front-line drug for the treatment of more severe forms of acne that do not respond to conventional therapies. In this paper, information is provided regarding the synthesis, stability, mechanism of action (not well known), the main methods of analysis and side effects of the drug: in particular, reference is made to the teratogenic effects of the same, for which are investigated some effective inhibition methods. There is still uncertainty about the best way to prescribe the drug, but its effectiveness is proven.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
