My work is about ermaphroditism, the condition of people who are born with both male and female genitals, in relation to its literary representatio. I will start from the myth of Hermaphrodite, studying its meanings and its evolution through time, and then i will talk about Cal Stephanides, main character in "Middlesex", novel by Jeffrey Eugenides, winner of the Pulitzer prize in 2003.
la mia tesi tratta dell'ermafroditismo, la condizione delle persone che nascono con genitali sia maschili sia femminili, in relazione alla sua rappresentazione letteraria. Partirò quindi dal mito di Ermafrodito studiandone i significati e l'evoluzione nel tempo, fino a parlare della figura di Cal Stephanides, protagonista di "Middlesex", romanzo di Jeffrey Eugenides vincitore del premio Pulitzer nel 2003.
