For Umberto Saba, the world needs more clarity than obscurity, and his language is proof of this. It stems from a desire to communicate common, everyday life experiences instead of searching for something new. Common things are sung in his compositions: love, pain, friendship, the city of Trieste, the street, the port, the stadium. The thesis, which has as its title Parole by Umberto Saba: a linguistic and stylistic analysis, deals in a first chapter (Saba a biographical and literary portrait) with the general indications to better understand the poet's life and from this to arrive at a study of his style, the language Saba uses to arrive at what he himself calls the "poetry of honesty." In a second chapter (Parole, una nuova giovinezza) as the title of the thesis suggests, a linguistic and stylistic analysis of some of the poetic compositions collected in the Parole section of the Canzoniere is continued. The choice of wanting to focus the study on these poems stems from the fact that, it is from these poems that Saba, at the threshold of fifty, is reborn. His poetry is renewed in style, all narrative and discursive elements are absent, it is renewed in language, its words seek their primitive meaning, their essential value. The usual words acquire such thematic value that they transform a personal event into an emblematic story for all. His storyless, simple words without intellectualistic complications are suitable for all kinds of readers.
Per Umberto Saba il mondo ha bisogno di più chiarezza che di oscurità e il suo linguaggio ne è la prova. Esso nasce dal desiderio di comunicare esperienza di vita comuni, quotidiane anzichè ricercare qualcosa di nuovo. Nei suoi componimenti vengono cantate cose comuni: l' amore, il dolore, l' amicizia, la città di Trieste, la strada, il porto, lo stadio. La tesi che ha come titolo Parole di Umberto Saba: un'analisi linguistica e stilistica, affronta in un primo capitolo (Saba un ritratto biografico e letterario) le indicazioni generali per capire al meglio la vita del poeta e da questa arrivare a studiarne lo stile, la lingua che Saba usa per arrivare a quella che da lui stesso è definita la "poesia dell'onestà". In un secondo capitolo (Parole, una nuova giovinezza) come si evince dal titolo di tesi, si prosegue con un'analisi linguistica e stilistica di alcuni componimenti poetici raccolti nella sezione Parole del Canzoniere. La scelta di voler concentrare lo studio su questi componimenti nasce dal fatto che, è da queste poesie che Saba, alla soglia dei cinquant'anni, rinasce. La sua poesia si rinnova nello stile, è assente ogni elemento narrativo e discorsivo, si rinnova nella lingua, le sue parole ricercano il loro primitivo significato, il loro valore essenziale. Le parole usuali acquistano valore tematico tale da trasformare un evento personale in una storia emblematica per tutti. Le sue parole senza storia, semplici e senza complicazioni intellettualistiche sono adatte ad ogni tipo di lettore.
