The thesis work I have carried out seeks to examine the reformist ferments in early sixteenth-century Italy, with a particular focus on Venice, and the reactions to the Lutheran Reformation in the Catholic world, taking into consideration some of the leading reformers who, already in the years before the Council of Trent, had drawn up reform proposals for the Catholic Church. Many of these proposals are found concentrated in the memorial "Consilium de emendanda ecclesia" (1537), the result of the work of a reform commission, chaired by Cardinal Gasparo Contarini and established by Pope Paul III in the fall of 1536. The central part of the thesis will attempt to go into detail in analyzing the text of the actual document.

Abstract
The central part of the thesis will attempt to go into detail in analyzing the text of the actual document.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
