Wood, one of the most used materials, is still today a possible solution for many applications but it ages in a slow natural way with a progressive loss of both aesthetic and physical-mechanical properties. This degradation is triggered by many factors such as the enviromental conditions, the effects of atmosferic agents, like light or rain and the attack of fungi or bacteria. This thesis aims to study the effectiveness of different treatments for wood’s prevention, analyzing the differences of the main physical characteristics such as brilliance, color, contact angle and water absorption on treated and untreated samples, after a well-defined ageing period.

Abstract
Wood, one of the most used materials, is still today a possible solution for many applications but it ages in a slow natural way with a progressive loss of both aesthetic and physical-mechanical properties. This degradation is triggered by many factors such as the enviromental conditions, the effects of atmosferic agents, like light or rain and the attack of fungi or bacteria. This thesis aims to study the effectiveness of different treatments for wood’s prevention, analyzing the differences of the main physical characteristics such as brilliance, color, contact angle and water absorption on treated and untreated samples, after a well-defined ageing period.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
