La cooperazione e lo sviluppo tecnologico dell'UE Come la digitalizzazione e le STI plasmano le politiche di sviluppo e cooperazione

After World War II, as Europe began to recover, the European Union emerged, establishing uniform social, security, and economic standards. We then witness a transition from an inter-European project of reconstruction and strengthening of political ties through economic integration to a more global one. The same principles were then adapted to cooperation with the Global South, and a more coordinated use of external action tools was needed for better consistency. Later on, due to the growing need of the EU to position itself geopolitically on a global scale, also considering the advent of geopolitical commissions, we see a shift from development aid to long-lasting international partnerships. In such context, our work aims to highlight and demonstrate which tools are being used to deliver such a goal and how digitalisation and STI (science, technology and innovation) nowadays shape international partnership policies.
