This paper examines the reciprocal relationship between digitisation and strategic flexibility in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in southern Sweden. It is based on the theory that digitisation - the integration of digital technologies in different areas of a company - can significantly improve strategic flexibility - the ability to adapt to changes in the environment. However, our understanding of this relationship, especially in the context of SMEs, remains limited. Through a series of in-depth interviews with 14 entrepreneurs from different sectors, this study explores how these companies use digital technologies to predict future scenarios and to respond to these scenarios with strategic adjustments.

Abstract
This paper examines the reciprocal relationship between digitisation and strategic flexibility in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in southern Sweden. It is based on the theory that digitisation - the integration of digital technologies in different areas of a company - can significantly improve strategic flexibility - the ability to adapt to changes in the environment. However, our understanding of this relationship, especially in the context of SMEs, remains limited. Through a series of in-depth interviews with 14 entrepreneurs from different sectors, this study explores how these companies use digital technologies to predict future scenarios and to respond to these scenarios with strategic adjustments.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
