The present dissertation has as object of study the work Entre o ser e o amar, the first poetic collection of the Guinean author Odete Costa Semedo. The poet is part of a literary scene that at the time of its first publication had only a few decades of life and no female voice. She tries to evoke in her verses her double cultural belonging through the choice of Creole and Portuguese as languages of poetic communication. In her double language , straight and hesitant, the Guinean author shares her disillusions, daughters of the "uncertain world" in which she lives, but without ever letting the sparkles of hope be thrown out of her verses. The first part of this dissertation, therefore, tries to travel in the poetic collection of Odete Semedo starting from the historical and cultural background in which her poems and the author herself are inserted, to then consider the role of a woman writer in the very young Guinean literature. Fundamental is the role of the linguistic choice by the author, a struggle between Creole and the language of the colonizer, a delicate issue that also involves the long history of oral tradition that characterizes most African countries; this subject, in particular, will be present in the first part of this work. In the second and final part, the disseration enters in the heart of the work by analyzing the themes that most characterize this poetic exordium of Odete Semedo. Then, reflections are made on the process of poetic creation of the author by using as perspective that of the poetic voice that shares the reasons for their writing, thus creating, between doubts and certainties, meta-poetic poems. The analysis continues with a focus on the constant oscillations, between hopes and disappointments, that navigate the verses of the Guinean poetess reaching the sea, the land and the elements of the Guinean soil where these torments and illusions were born. The second part concludes with a particular attention on the ser (being) and the amar (loving), between which hides a constant claim of Guinean identity, an essential element, that of the identity, when we talk about African literature in Portuguese language.
A presente dissertação tem como objeto de estudo a obra Entre o ser e o amar, primeira recolha poética da autora guineense Odete Costa Semedo. A poetisa insere-se num panorama literário que na época da sua primeria publicação tinha só poucas décadas de vida e cási nenhuma voz feminina, ela tenta evocar nos seus versos a sua dupla pertença cultural através da escolha do crioulo e do português como línguas de comunicação poética. Nas sua dupla linguagem , direitas e hesitantes, a autora guineense partilha as suas desilusões filhas do “mundo incerto” em que vive, mas sem nunca deixar que os brilhos de esperança sejam deitados fora dos seus versos. Na primeira parte desta dissertação, portanto, tenta-se viajar na recolha poética de Odete Semedo partindo do contexto histórico e cultural em que os seus poemas e a autora mesma são inseridos, para depois considerar o papel de uma mulher escritora na muito jovem literatura guineense. Fundamental é o papel da escolha linguística por parte da autora, uma luta entre o crioulo e a língua do colonizador, questão delicada que envolve também a longa história de tradição oral que caracteriza a maioria dos países africanos; este assunto, em particular, será presente na primeira parte deste trabalho. Na segunda e última parte, entra-se no vivo da obra analisando os temas que mais caracterizam esse exórdio poético de Odete Semedo. Reflete-se, em seguida no processo de criação poética da autora usando como perspetiva aquela da voz poética que partilha as razões da sua escrita, criando assim, entre dúvidas e certezas, poemas meta-poéticos. A análise prossegue com um foco nas oscilações constantes, entre esperanças e desilusões, que navegam os versos da poetisa guineense chegando ao mar, à terra e aos elementos do chão guineense onde estes tormentos e ilusões nasceram. A segunda parte conclui-se com uma atenção particular sobre o ser e o amar, entre os quais esconde-se uma constante rivendicação da identidade guineense, elemento imprescindível, aquele da identidade, quando se fala de literatura africana em língua portuguesa.
