"Celia en la Revolución" is the latest novel published by Elena Fortún. The work constitutes the conclusion of the 'bildungsroman' written by the author and marks the young protagonist's attainment of her state of maturity. The story, narrated during the period of the Spanish Civil War, aims to give relevance not only to the description of political and social events that affected Spain between 1936 and 1939, but also to the process of inner revolution that Celia experiences. In addition to this, Fortún offers a strongly feminist perspective of the conflict, emphasising the role of women, who assume a decisive importance in the Spanish society of the time. All this is portrayed by the protagonist herself, who during the conflict never takes a decisive stance by siding with one party or another, but by condemning any kind of war and its consequences.
