The Default Mode Network (DMN) is a network of regions in the brain that are active when one is not focusing on the outside world, during rest, and internal goal-oriented tasks. The Default Mode Network has been associated with multiple disorders, including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that is characterized by inattention and/or hyperactivity and impulsiveness. It has been found that there is reduced connectivity within the DMN itself and between it and other systems in the brain. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the existing literature on the dysconnectivity of the Default Mode Network in the brains of people with ADHD. The thesis will conclude with a summary of the findings of previous literature and suggestions for future research.
