The aim of my thesis is to know, study and understand the effectiveness of music therapy as a treatment for preterm infants. The paper is divided into four chapters, in the first I explore the topic of music therapy, focusing on the neural basis of music and its diverse applicability as a therapy. The second chapter analyzes typical and atypical neurodevelopment, with special attention in the case of preterm infants, and in the third chapter I carry out a review of three studies of music therapy to describe its effects in three different cases: in promoting brain function and structure in preterm infants; in parent-preterm infant bonding; and in multisensory stimulation on neuromotor development in preterm infants. Lastly, in the fourth chapter I carry out a general discussion of what has been examined.
