Abstract
Among the various mammals that have crossed the emerged lands, the Paraceratherium genus holds the record for the largest terrestrial mammal. The first paleontological discoveries in this regard date back to the early twentieth century and can be traced back to portions of jaws, vertebrae and teeth. The genus has all the main characteristics of the perissodactyls (to which it belongs) but is also endowed with innovative and sometimes unique structures. Following a brief analysis of the evolutionary history of the genus and of the ecological-environmental characteristics in which it lived, going more specifically will briefly analyze: the history of its discovery, ways of life, behaviors, nutrition, ecological interactions, peculiar and possible characteristics causes of its extinctionFile | Dimensione | Formato | |
