The thesis exposes the railway situation at a global level and how infrastructures have evolved in recent years, making distinctions based on the type of railway transport. Two potential scenarios are then discussed which show some directions the transport sector could take up to 2050. Finally, the last part of the paper focuses on the current situation and future forecasts of infrastructures in India, which in the last decade has grown a lot in the railway sector and is expected to continue growing until it reaches an important role at the level global.
La tesi espone la situazione ferroviaria a livello globale e come le infrastrutture si sono evolute negli ultimi anni facendo delle distinzioni in base al tipo di trasporto ferroviario. Successivamente vengono trattati due potenziali scenari che mostrano alcune direzioni che potrebbe prendere il settore dei trasporti fino al 2050. Infine l'ultima parte dell’elaborato fa un focus sulla situazione attuale e previsioni future delle infrastrutture in India, la quale nell'ultimo decennio è cresciuta molto nel settore ferroviario e si prevede continuerà a crescere fino ad arrivare a ricoprire un ruolo importante a livello globale nei prossimi anni.
