The aim of the report is to analyze the study commissioned by Greenpeace, Legambiente e WWF Italia “Development of a transition pathway towards a close to net-zero electricity sector in Italy by 2035” and prepared by Ecco in collaboration with Artelys, who provided the simulations using their own model, "Crystal." Subsequently the report will focus on the most prominent critical points of the study, specifically the assumptions that are considered overly strong and difficult to implement, taking into account the costs, availability of different technologies, and the limited progress that can be expected in the next twelve years. Finally, a critical analysis will be conducted to examine the potential consequences of the a priori exclusion of certain technologies, such as nuclear power and energy production from fossil sources with CO2 capture and storage.

Abstract
The aim of the report is to analyze the study commissioned by Greenpeace, Legambiente e WWF Italia “Development of a transition pathway towards a close to net-zero electricity sector in Italy by 2035” and prepared by Ecco in collaboration with Artelys, who provided the simulations using their own model, "Crystal." Subsequently the report will focus on the most prominent critical points of the study, specifically the assumptions that are considered overly strong and difficult to implement, taking into account the costs, availability of different technologies, and the limited progress that can be expected in the next twelve years. Finally, a critical analysis will be conducted to examine the potential consequences of the a priori exclusion of certain technologies, such as nuclear power and energy production from fossil sources with CO2 capture and storage.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
