This report aims to provide a general study of submerged NACA-style intakes in subsonic regimes. A general description of the intake and its historical development will be given, along with an illustration of the main applications that have involved NACA intakes, both in the aerospace field and in other sectors of Engineering, such as automotive and motorsport. The main aspects of the physical treatment of flows in the intake are then examined, analyzing the characteristics of incompressible subsonic airflow and the variables that influence the intake's performance. Particular attention is given to the internal structure of the intake, the behavior of the boundary layer, and the flow distortion phenomena that can occur.
La presente relazione si propone di fornire uno studio generale delle prese sommerse di stile NACA in regimi subsonici. Si darà una descrizione generale della presa e del suo sviluppo storico, saranno inoltre illustrati i principali utilizzi che hanno visto interessata la presa NACA, sia in campo aerospaziale che in altri settori dell'Ingegneria, come quello automotive e del motorsport. Vengono poi esaminati i principali aspetti della trattazione fisica dei flussi nella presa, analizzando le caratteristiche del flusso d'aria subsonico incompressibile e le variabili che influenzano le prestazioni della presa. In particolare, viene dedicata attenzione alla struttura interna della presa, all'andamento dello strato limite e ai fenomeni di distorsione del flusso che possono verificarsi.
