Polifemo nell'età arcaica. Il rapporto tra la rappresentazione omerica e l'iconografia della pittura vascolare.

This thesis seeks to define what Homer's role was in the production of vase paintings of the Archaic period. In the first part, a comparison is established on book IX of the Odyssey and similar stories that tell similar episodes. In the second part, we observe the first depictions regarding the blinding of a Cyclops through the opinions of Irad Malkin, Jonathan Burgess and Anthony Snodgrass. In the third and final part, we then proceed with the independent description of other paintings starting from 600 BC. In conclusion, we arrive at the conclusion that in the Archaic age itself an influence of Homer can be seen, contrary to what can be done with the representations of the Late Geometric period.

La presente tesi cerca di definire quale sia stato il ruolo di Omero nella produzione delle pitture vascolari di età Arcaica. Nella prima parte, si instaura un confronto sul libro IX dell'Odissea e analoghi racconti che raccontano episodi simili. Nella seconda parte, si osservano le prime raffigurazioni riguardanti l'accecamento di un Ciclope tramite le opinioni di Irad Malkin, Jonathan Burgess e Anthony Snodgrass. Nella terza e ultima parte, poi, si procede con l'autonoma descrizione di altre pitture a partire dal 600 a.C. In conclusione, si arriva ad affermare che nell'età Arcaica propriamente detta si può vedere un'influenza di Omero, al contrario di quanto si possa fare con le raffigurazioni del Tardo Geometrico.
