Il mondo animale nel De beneficiis di Seneca

The purpose of the work is to illustrate how Seneca uses, in the moral works and in particular in the 'De beneficiis', his observations (which he integrates in his argumentations in some diverse modalities) about the animal world, in order to develop, in name of an essential ambiguity that arises from the continual comparison between the human and the animal system, an argument on the social and existential aspect of the 'beneficium', on its fundamental prerequisites, and on the interpersonal relationships that it contribute to establish.

Il lavoro si pone come obiettivo quello di illustrare come Seneca utilizzi, nelle opere morali e in particolare nel 'De beneficiis', le osservazioni sul mondo animale (che vengono integrate nelle argomentazioni secondo varie modalità) per sviluppare, all'insegna di un'ambiguità di fondo che scaturisce dal continuo confronto tra il sistema umano e quello animale, un discorso sulla dimensione sociale ed esistenziale del 'beneficium', sui suoi presupposti costitutivi e sulle relazioni interpersonali che contribuisce ad instaurare.
