Il Don Chisciotte a Venezia di Giuseppe Baretti. Un episodio della fortuna italiana di Cervantes.

The thesis aims to examine the work "Don Quixote in Venice" by Giuseppe Baretti in the light of the historical and cultural context in which it was written. The figure of Don Quixote, iconic character of world literature, is here reinterpreted by Baretti through a narrative set in the city of Venice. Through a critical analysis, this research focuses on the study of the narrative techniques adopted by Baretti to transpose the famous literary figure in an environment as particular and emblematic as the Venetian city. We will explore the reasons that led Baretti to choose Venice as the background of his work, considering its link with the literary tradition and its historical references. The thesis will also examine how Baretti influenced the narrative of Don Quixote through his reflections on the Venetian society of the time. The central themes of the work will be analyzed, such as idealism, folly and social criticism, as well as the use of the typically Venetian language and writing style.

La tesi esamina l'opera "Il Don Chisciotte a Venezia" di Giuseppe Baretti alla luce del contesto storico e culturale in cui è stata scritta. Il personaggio di Don Chisciotte viene reinterpretato da Baretti attraverso una narrazione ambientata nella città di Venezia. Attraverso un'analisi critica, questa ricerca si concentra sullo studio delle tecniche narrative adottate da Baretti per trasporre la famosa figura letteraria in un ambiente tanto particolare ed emblematico come la città veneziana. Si esploreranno le ragioni che hanno portato Baretti a scegliere Venezia come sfondo della sua opera, considerando il suo legame con la tradizione letteraria e i suoi riferimenti storici. La tesi esaminerà inoltre come Baretti abbia influenzato la narrazione di Don Chisciotte attraverso le sue riflessioni sulla società veneziana del tempo. Vengono analizzati i temi centrali dell'opera ovvero l'idealismo, la follia e la critica sociale del tempo, così come l'utilizzo del linguaggio e dello stile di scrittura tipicamente veneziani.
