Museum accessibility is a fundamental requirement to ensure a complete enjoyment and inclusive visitor experience. However, it is necessary to consider not only the issue of accessibility as a synonym for the removal of architectural barriers and physical obstacles, but also the overcoming of cognitive barriers. The topics of accessibility and inclusive education are addressed here in relation to the concept of functional diversity and today's national and European legislation. In conclusion, a comparison of examples of Italian museums that have adopted the principle of not only physical accessibility in their educational and exhibition proposals is presented.
L'accessibilità museale è un requisito fondamentale per garantire una fruizione completa e un'esperienza di visita inclusiva. E' necessario però considerare non solo il tema dell'accessibilità come sinonimo di interventi di abbattimento delle barriere architettoniche ed ostacoli fisici, ma anche di superamento delle barriere cognitive. Vengono qui affrontati i temi di accessibilità e didattica inclusiva in relazione al concetto di diversità funzionali e alla legislazione odierna in vigore a livello nazionale ed europeo. Si presenta in conclusione un confronto tra una casistica di esempi di musei italiani che hanno fatto proprio il principio di accessibilità non solo fisica nella loro proposta didattica ed espositiva.
