Minori e criminalità: il ruolo dell'educazione nella prevenzione e nel contrasto alla devianza minorile

In the course of three chapters, the thesis deals with the issue of juvenile delinquency and the importance of quality education in the prevention and fight against crime. The first chapter explains the definition of "deviance", identifying the sociological theories that over the centuries have attempted to answer the question "who is the deviant?", and of the risk and protective factors, recognizing them as those individual or environmental characteristics which are decisive in the individual's response to a negative event. The second chapter deals with the educational, but also social and political commitment in the prevention of deviance: starting from the definition of the role of the educator, the one who takes care of someone else, it is possible to understand how much the socio-political context can be education, guaranteeing protection for minors, and promoting a policy that cares about children and their right to quality education and care, also with respect to the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The third and final chapter focuses on educational practices and dynamic design implemented by educators in contexts of vulnerability. We talk about the challenges of meeting and the objectives that the educator can use as orientation and compass during his career in order to create a reciprocal, meaningful and asymmetrical relationship.

La tesi affronta nel corso di tre capitoli la tematica della devianza minorile e dell’importanza dell’educazione di qualità nella prevenzione e nella lotta alla criminalità. Il primo capitolo esplica la definizione di “devianza”, identificando le teorie sociologiche che nel corso dei secoli hanno tentato di rispondere alla domanda “chi è il deviante?”, e dei fattori di rischio e di protezione, riconoscendoli come quelle caratteristiche individuali o ambientali che risultano determinanti nella risposta dell’individuo a un evento negativo. Il secondo capitolo tratta dell’impegno educativo, ma anche sociale e politico, nella prevenzione alla devianza: partendo dalla definizione del ruolo dell’educatore, colui che si prende cura di qualcun altro, è possibile comprendere quanto anche il contesto socio-politico possa essere educante, garantendo tutela ai minori, e favorendo una politica che abbia a cuore i bambini e il loro diritto all’educazione e alla cura di qualità, anche rispetto agli obiettivi dell’Agenda 2030 per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile. Il terzo e ultimo capitolo si concentra sulle pratiche educative e sulla progettazione dinamica attuata dagli educatori in contesti di vulnerabilità. Si parla delle sfide dell’incontro e degli obiettivi che l’educatore può usare come orientamento e bussola durante il suo percorso lavorativo per poter dar vita a una relazione reciproca, significativa e asimmetrica.
