Indagine sugli stili di vita degli studenti delle scuole secondarie di secondo grado della Provincia di Treviso: uno studio preliminare

This preliminary study has two objectives: to monitor, through the administration of the "Ques-tionnaire on the lifestyles of young people attending secondary schools", the risk behaviors and habits of students in the province of Treviso aged between 15 and 19 years and to test the ade-quacy and suitability of the questionnaire "Questionnaire on the lifestyles of young people at-tending secondary schools" and of its on-line self-administration. The phenomena investigated by the instrument are many: the use of legal and illegal psychoac-tive substances, Internet use, cyberbullying, gambling or video games and other phenomena such as deviant and risky behavior. The study we conducted between May and June 2023 is preliminary to a survey that in October 2023 will involve a statistically representative sample of secondary school students in the prov-ince of Treviso. The survey is one of the projects envisaged by the Addiction Observatory of the Province of Treviso, a body founded in December 2022 with the aim of monitoring over time the evolutions and characteristics of the phenomenon of youth addiction, controlling the spread of drugs on the provincial territory and mapping existing prevention and rehabilitation interven-tions. The study involved 332 students, enrolled from grade one to grade five, belonging to three dif-ferent schools in the Province of Treviso. The results obtained allowed us to outline some of the most widespread habits among adolescents, including alcohol consumption, experienced by 84% of the sample, and the tendency to binge-drinking practiced in the last 30 days by half of the sample. This is followed by the use of e-cigarettes and/or smokeless cigarettes (47.9% of students) and the non-medical use of prescription drugs, a phenomenon that continues to be a source of concern (40.4%). The 22.9% have used illegal substances in their lives: cannabis con-tinues to be the most commonly used illicit substance by students, in fact 20.5% of the sample have used it. Particular attention should also be paid to the data that emerged on the spread of risky, violent and aggressive behavior (fights, thefts, cyberbullying, damage to public or private property, drink-driving) which, in association with substance use, is a rapidly spreading phe-nomenon in the student population. The questionnaire, administered through Google Forms, allowed us to collect a quantity of data suitable for a comprehensive analysis of the sample and the phenomena under analysis. Monitoring these phenomena over time is particularly relevant for understanding the habits of Italian students and informing prevention policies in relation to growing and potentially dan-gerous conduct. The analysis of the data obtained from these annual surveys is a useful tool both for monitoring the spread and prevalence of the phenomena under investigation and for stakeholders who will be able to plan their intervention strategies (prevention, treatment, etc.) based on current and contextualized data and information.

Lo studio si pone due obiettivi: monitorare, attraverso il “Questionario sugli stili di vi-ta dei giovani frequentanti le scuole secondarie di secondo grado”, i comportamenti a rischio e le abitudini degli studenti della provincia di Treviso di età compresa fra i 15 e i 19 anni e testa-re l’adeguatezza e l’idoneità del questionario e della sua autosomministrazione online. I fenomeni indagati dallo strumento sono molteplici: l’utilizzo di sostanze psicoattive legali e illegali, l’utilizzo di Internet, il cyberbullismo, il gioco d’azzardo o ai videogame e altri feno-meni come comportamenti devianti e a rischio. Lo studio che abbiamo condotto tra maggio e giugno 2023 è preliminare rispetto ad un’indagine che a ottobre 2023 vedrà coinvolto un cam-pione statisticamente rappresentativo degli studenti delle scuole secondarie di secondo grado della provincia di Treviso. L’indagine è uno dei progetti previsti dall’Osservatorio delle Dipen-denze della Provincia di Treviso, un organo fondato a dicembre 2022 allo scopo di monitorare nel tempo le evoluzioni e le caratteristiche del fenomeno della dipendenza giovanile, controlla-re la diffusione di sostanze stupefacenti sul territorio provinciale e mappare gli interventi di prevenzione e riabilitativi esistenti. Lo studio ha visto coinvolti 332 studenti, iscritti dalla classe prima alla classe quinta, apparte-nenti a 3 diversi istituti della Provincia di Treviso. I risultati ottenuti ci hanno permesso di deli-neare alcune tra le abitudini maggiormente diffuse tra gli adolescenti tra cui: il consumo di al-col, sperimentato dall’84% del campione, e la tendenza al binge-drinking praticato negli ultimi 30 giorni da metà del campione. A seguire l’uso di sigarette elettroniche (47,9% degli studenti) e l’uso non medico di farmaci soggetti a prescrizione, fenomeno che continua a rappresentare una fonte di preoccupazione (40,4%). Il 22,9% ha usato nella vita sostanze illegali: la cannabis continua ad essere la sostanza illecita più usata dagli studenti, infatti il 20,5% del campione ne ha fatto uso. Da prestare particolare attenzione anche ai dati emersi sulla diffusione di comportamenti a ri-schio, violenti ed aggressivi (risse, furti, cyberbullismo, danneggiamento ai beni pubblici o pri-vati, guida in stato di ebrezza) che, in associazione all’uso di sostanze, sono un fenomeno in ra-pida diffusione nella popolazione studentesca. Il questionario, somministrato attraverso Google Moduli, ci ha permesso di raccogliere una quantità di dati adatta ad un’analisi completa del campione e dei fenomeni oggetto d’analisi. Il monitoraggio nel tempo di questi fenomeni risul-ta particolarmente rilevante per comprendere le abitudini degli studenti italiani e informare le politiche di prevenzione in relazione a condotte in crescita e potenzialmente pericolose. L’analisi dei dati ottenuti da queste indagini annuali è uno strumento utile per gli stakeholders che potranno programmare le loro strategie di intervento (progetti e interventi di prevenzione, trattamento ecc..) basandosi su dati ed informazioni attuali e contestualizzate.
